José Maria da Fonseca
FOUNDATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF JOSÉ MARIA DA FONSECA
Innovation and tradition - a title that could immediately qualify the work of José Maria da Fonseca.
A family business with almost two centuries of history that, without ever resting on the glories conquered, has been able to modernize. José Maria da Fonseca has been operating wine since 1834, the fruit of the shared passion of a family that has been able to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of the responsibility of being the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, José Maria da Fonseca has a philosophy of permanent development, which makes it invest more and more in research and of production, combining the most modern techniques with traditional knowledge. An example of this is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots keeps abreast of the latest technology.
Continuing to invest in reference products at an international level, always guided by quality, José Maria da Fonseca has contributed decisively to the dissemination and prestige of national wines.
Of the nearly 650 hectares of vineyards, and a winery equipped with the latest technology that rivals the best in the world, wines result in the experience accumulated throughout its history with the most advanced winemaking techniques.
Besides all these resources used in the production of its wines, what most characterizes the work in José Maria da Fonseca is an enormous passion for the art of making wine. It is this passion, which generates emotions, that José Maria da Fonseca shares with the consumer each time he tries one of his wines.
