Rui Reguinga Vinhos
Rui Reguinga was born in 1966 in Almeirim, Ribatejo, into a family with its roots in wine. The son and grandson of winemakers, he grew up with the dream of carrying on this tradition. He achieved this when he graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the Lisbon Institute of Agronomy, which he followed with a post-graduate degree in Wine Marketing from the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto Campus, and a specialization in ‘Dégustation des Vins’ from Bordeaux University.
He did an apprenticeship in the Champagne region in 1990, and soon after began an intensive career as a consultant winemaker together with João Portugal Ramos at Consulvinus. For 10 years he excelled in his work for famous brands in the major wine regions of Portugal.
In 2000 he founded Rui Reguinga Enologia Lda, and through his profound understanding of the terroirs became a pioneering Portuguese winemaker in international consulting in Brazil, Argentina and recently Sri Lanka. His extensive international activity earned him the title of the ‘flying winemaker’ from the Portuguese press.
Today Rui Reguinga is responsible for various projects and successful partnerships in Portugal and around the world. Professional trips have taken him to wine-growing regions all over the world from Australia, New Zealand, California, Chile to Asia. But with ever increasing knowledge and very special dedication, he always comes back to his original terroirs and the production of his own wine.
