The Irish Cocktail
Of all the drinks in this country, this is the only one known simply as "The Irish Cocktail". This recipe appeared for the first time in the 1888 edition of Harry Johnson's Bartenders' Handbook. Ingredients: 60ml by Jameson Irish Whiskey 2 Splashes of Pernod Absinthe 2 healing spatters 1 sprinkle of maraschino liqueur 1 Splash of Angostura bitters Method: Mix all ingredients and stir with ice. Pour into an ice-cold glass. Burn a piece of orange peel and squeeze the liquid into the glass. Garnish with an olive. It's good to make a traditional Irish toast, "Slainte!"
