This wine reminds us of an Auslese that wakes us up at the end of a big dinner, after tasting several wines and Ports, and wakes us up to start again!
As Niepoort is a house with strong port wine roots dating back to 1842, it was in the 5th generation under the leadership of Dirk Niepoort, that this house opened the horizons for Germany where it currently produces exceptional rieslings with an excellent balance between acidity and sweetness. . In Portugal, we also have grape varieties with the ability to produce exceptional wines with an excellent balance of acidity and sweetness. Being a strong defender of what is Portuguese and authentic, Dirk sees in Moscatel do Douro all the potential of a fortified white, with an unmistakable nose, complexity, acidity and elegance that so characterize the house of Niepoort. Thus, it is in the old muscatel vines, in transitional soils from schist to granite, between 400-500m of altitude, that the best harvests of this 5-year-old Moscatel originate.
