Typical Niepoort Garrafeira style, young with a vibrant dark cherry color, but starting to reveal a seductive amber hue. Slightly fruity on the nose, as a result of only 4 years in cask before being transferred to demijohns. manifests the phases early stages of maturation in the bottle, with notes of tobacco and delicate candied fruit. Fresh and vibrant in the mouth, with a beautiful balance between sweetness and acidity. Delicate berry notes and a long, smooth finish.

The second generation of the Niepoort family, at the end of the 19th century, had the happy idea of purchasing from a German glassmaker in Oldenburg about 4000 blown demijohns, made of dark green glass, with varying capacities between 8 and 11 litres, which we now call "demijohns". Eduard Karel Jacob van der Niepoort died early and it was his son, Eduard Marius van der Niepoort, Dirk's grandfather, who gave the destination to the "demijohns", having bottled the best wines from the 1931 harvest, and thus created the type "Garrafeira Niepoort ". Since the distant year of 1931 until the present day, maturation in "demijohns" sealed with a cork stopper has been closely monitored, being an almost "sacred" ritual for the Niepoort and Nogueira families.
