It is light and elegant, resulting from the intention to create increasingly fine wines with little extraction. Shows a slight bright ruby color. The aroma is deep, complex and austere. The mineral profile, with floral notes, cocoa and forest fruits, are in full harmony with the barrel notes. In the glass, with time, the wine shows several layers, in a very elegant register but with tension, reflecting the freshness and minerality of the centuries-old vines. Fine and elegant in the mouth, with a silky texture and firm structure, it presents very polished tannins. Despite being young, it impresses with its balance and precision. Very long and seductive aftertaste. It will age with great class.
Batuta is very flexible in combining with meat and fish such as monkfish, squid or roasted octopus.
The grapes to produce this wine come from Carril, from a vineyard that is over 70 years old facing north, and from old vines that are around 100 years old, close to Quinta de Nápoles. Batuta is the result of a delicate vinification, with prolonged macerations, but with little extraction where all the details are carefully considered to obtain a complex, fine and elegant wine. It is full of concentration, typical of old Douro vines, but at the same time fresh and delicate.
