The color is a lively garnet, open and not very concentrated, almost like a Trousseau de Jura. On the nose it shows a very fine and delicate aroma. It is fresh, full of currant and cherry aromas, with balsamic notes characteristic of the variety. In the mouth, it reveals notes of red fruits, tobacco and spices. The structure is delicate and extremely elegant. The balance, the persistent acidity and the almost spicy and extremely precise aftertaste make it an extraordinary example of the variety.
Bastardo is a variety that is easily found in the old vineyards of the Douro. Also known as Trousseau in the Jura region of France, it is a variety with a short cycle, with premature maturation, normally used to increase the sugar content of musts, from grapes from cooler areas. The idea when producing this Bastardo was to try to tame the rustic character of the variety and look for its more elegant and fresh side. Bastardo's vines are scattered around the old vineyards of Quinta de Nápoles, where all viticulture is organic.
