With a beautiful violet color of slight concentration, the aroma is very fine, deep and complex. Notes of forest fruits in harmony with an intense mineral profile, where chalky notes jump out of the glass. Although very young, it impresses with its harmony, with silky tannins wrapped in fresh fruit notes. Of enormous structure and power, the whole set is delicate, elegant and very fine, thanks to the freshness of the fruit and the excellent acidity. Refreshing finish, almost salty and very focused on the limestone terroir. A perfect wine to drink young and feel all its harmony, but which will age with greatness.
It goes well with dishes with some fat (cod, octopus, black pork) and goes very well with seafood rice.
António Maia Ferreira Faria was one of the mythical Bairrada producers in the 1990s. Wines such as Tonel 5 1990 or Reserva 1991 will forever be recorded in the history of Bairrada. For Dirk Niepoort (who became the distributor of these wines), being able to work these magnificent vineyards is a huge privilege. We will try, year after year, to honor the late António Maia Ferreira Faria and her son João Pedro, today responsible for the work in the vineyards, producing timeless wines, Deep and full of character.
