Open color ruby violet. Intense nose, dark red fruit, moss, mineral charcoal. Fresh, textured attack, lots of concentration and complexity. Always present acidity, persistent tannins and long finish.
Perfect for pot dishes, game, cheek dishes, which need both intensity and freshness and acidity to cut through the fat.
The Tinta Negra variety is part of the ancient vines of the island of Madeira, and is still the basis for the wines that made this island famous. Outside Madeira Island, it is a rare variety that is only found in regions where the sea is close by, earning another name such as Molar in Colares or Saborinho in the Azores. “Villões” is the nickname that Porto-Santenses give to Madeirans, which comes from the name vila (city) that has gained a double connotation. This is our Black Ink of Villains.
