A great way to introduce someone new to Canadian Club® Whisky, is to start with the basics. Adding soda really allows a whisky first-timer to taste all the smooth, rich flavours. Try 1 part Canadian Club®, 2 parts soda water or 1 part Canadian Club® Whisky 2 parts ginger ale, for a refreshing touch. For a classic, try an Old-Fashioned: Ingredients -> 1½ parts Canadian Club® Reserve 9-Year-Old Whisky, part sweet vermouth, Dash Angostura bitters, Sugar, Water, Orange slice, Maraschino cherry. Mix simple syrup, water and bitters in a rocks glass. Drop in a cherry and an orange slice. Muddle ingredients (using a muddler or the back end of a spoon). Add Canadian Club® 9-Year-Old Whisky and vermouth. Fill with ice cubes and stir.
Without a doubt the most prestigious and well known of the Canadian whiskies. First established in 1858, this whisky is a blend of Canadian rye and grain that has been at the top of Canada’s whisky scene for decades. It originally gained its name after being established as the dram of choice in gentleman’s clubs. The whisky has received Royal Warrants from the last 5 consecutive British Monarchs. During prohibition, one of the biggest customers of the company was a one Al Capone. In recent years, the whisky has had a resurgence due to the popularity of the show Mad Men. This dram is a fantastic example of the Canadian blended style, aged for 6 years for a wonderful mellow sweetness. This is the necessary whisky for classic cocktails such as the Toronto!
