In 1801, the Chivas Brothers opened for the first time the doors of their gourmet food emporium in Aberdeen. They quickly gained reputation supplying food provisions and malt whiskies of the highest quality and their name became a "synonym of excellence". In the decade of 1850, they decided to combine the soft grain whisky with robust malts to create Scotch blended whiskies, balanced and smooth. When it was launched in 1909, Chivas Regal 25 years was the first luxury whisky in the world. In the beginning of the 50s, a new classic was released - Chivas Regal 12. This blend of Premium whiskies, each with at least 12 years of age, captivated the American market practically overnight. Later on, in 1997, the Master Blender Colin Scott created a new blend which conquers numerous awards: Chivas Regal 18 Year Old Gold Signature.
