Royal Salute was created in 1953 in honour to Queen Elisabeth II for her anniversary. Its name means Royal Salute after the 21 gun salute traditionally fired by the Royal Navy to honour public figures. The first blended whisky Royal Salute was created from the rarest whiskies in the world and put in caves during the years 1920-1930. Each drop of whisky that is part of its composition had been aged for at least 21 years.In the launching year, only 2500 units were produced in a limited edition. Royal Salute 50 years, limited edition of 255 bottles, was launched in 2003 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Queen and of the Royal Salute whisky.
