A SPIRIT OF ITS OWNIn 1869, Big John Smith - said to have been the most experienced distiller of his day - founded Cragganmore. He lobbied for a railway siding, and using this, his business acumen and skill as a distiller, turned Cragganmore into a popular, high-quality single malt whisky. Speyside is famous for its wonderful whisky and is often called ''Malt Whisky Country''. It''s home to more than half of Scotland''s malt whisky distilleries, making it the ideal place to discover more about this ancient art. The area is one of Scotland''s five whisky regions. The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival''s annual celebration of Scotland''s national drink has developed into one of the largest events of its kind anywhere in the World. With a programme of over 500 whisky-inspired events, the Festival is a mecca for the curious beginner and the whisky connoisseur alike.

Appearance: Gold. Nose: A combination of sweet floral fragrances, riverside herbs and flowers with some honey and vanilla. "The most complex nose of any Single Malt Scotch Whisky" (Michael Jackson). Body: Firm, rounded, light to medium. Palate: A strong malty taste with hints of sweet wood smoke and sandalwood. Finish: A long, malt-driven finish with light smoke and hints of sweetness.
How to Serve & Paring
Serve this Cragganmore 12 Year Old on the rocks in a tumbler or tulip glass to concentrate its flavour, and add a splash of water to release more of its complexity. Cragganmore craves the company of sweet, rich foods such as lobster, suckling pig or a combined dish of prunes and bacon. Glazed chicken on a zesty salad brings out Cragganmore's floral nose, honey notes and the hint of sweet woodsmoke.
