Jura whisky comes from a place of contrasts. A wild shoreline of craggy rocks battered by the open seas on one side, to secluded sandy bays with calm waters on the other. From the sweetness of Origin to the smokiness of Superstition you'll find the nature of our island reflected in our whisky and you'll taste the difference in every drop. The Isle of Jura is nestled off the West Coast of Scotland. It's only 60 miles from Glasgow as the crow flies, but 60 miles has never felt so far away. With only one road, one pub, one distillery and one big whirlpool, Jura is as beautiful as it is remote. Which explains why the deer outnumber the 200-strong population by a country mile. George Orwell even went so far as to name it 'the most un-get-at-able place' while he wrote his classic novel 1984 here. The original distillery has stood in its spot since 1810 but fell into ruin. In 1963, we decided to resurrect it and with it, we helped to revive the local community. Ever since then, we've been using our incredibly tall stills to create a unique range of whiskies. And this range is what sets us apart. You see, while some just do sweet and others only smoky, we do both. It may not be traditional, but we have our own way of doing things. It also means there's sure to be something that takes your fancy.

Colour: Warming golden glow. Nose: Soft nuances of American white oak with a smooth, sweet aroma of honey. Taste: A refined, smooth and clean tasting liquid with gentle oak flavours, followed by highlights of caramel and soft liquorice. The warmth of roasted coffee beans lingers long in the mouth. Cask Finish: To mark our rebirth, Origin is aged in ex-Bourbon casks for 10 years to give it the distinct Jura house style, flavour and exceptional structure.

Jura origin is where it all started. It's the whisky that signifies the rebuilding of a community and rebirth of the Jura distillery. On the front of the bottle is a Celtic symbol for birth, beginnings and the forces of nature. It's something that was to make an unique bottle because it symbolise Jura distillery's unique story, and the whisky that is at the heart of everything they do.This malt is aged in ex-Bourbon casks for 10 years. Some say it tastes of oak with hints of honey, caramel and soft liquorice, but then again everyone is different. Pair it with scallops au gratin, lemon sultana pudding, Scottish brie and white chocolate.
