The cognac Hennessy V.S.O.P. is very aromatic, with strong bouquet of fruits, dried fruits like apricot, raisin and dates, as well as floral and notes of spices such as cloves and cinnamon. In the palate, the flavor follows the aromas, with a light and balanced sweetness, also appear typical notes of the wood.

The world-famous Maison Hennessy distillery was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer in the service of King Louis XV, in the French town of Cognac, in the Charente region. Initially Richard worked as a beverage salesman, today Hennessy Cognacs are the best selling in the world. In accordance with French law, to receive the name Cognac V.S.O.P. (initials of "Very Superior Old Pale"), the brandy must be produced in the French city of Cognac, from wines of specific varieties of grapes (98% of the Cognacs use the Uni Blanc grape), be doubly distilled with an alcoholic degree maximum of 72% ABV and aged for at least 4 years in French oak barrels. The cognac Hennessy V.S.O.P. was created in the year 1817 after the then Prince Regent of the United Kingdom and later King George IV having requested a "Very Old Old Pale Cognac", since the initials V.S.O.P. began to be used as a reference of the quality of the drink. It consists of a blend of more than 60 eaux-de-vies produced from wines from four sub-regions of Cognac: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois.
