Após um inverno particularmente frio, seco e severo, as geadas da primavera de 7 a 11 de abril deixaram uma marca duradoura em Champagne. O verão foi imediatamente escaldante, o mais quente há 53 anos. Tudo o que escapou milagrosamente da geada e granizo foi submetido a um calor intenso até a colheita. A safra estava perfeitamente madura e saudável, como as de 1947, 1959 e 1976.

On the palate the wine is currently still physical. It is compelling, tactile and vibrant rather than aromatic. The rhythm and tempo are more dominant than the melody. At first mild and delicate, then strongly, confidently mineral, persistent, precise, with a refined bitterness, and an iodine, saline tang. While at the nose the bouquet spirals through sweet, bright floral notes and the lively minerality so typical of Dom Pérignon, then notes of candied fruit, plants, the incredible freshness of camphor leaf and finally the dark hints of spices and liquorice root.
