Merlot plays a special role in this vintage, accounting for two-thirds of the final blend. The aroma is subtle, elegant and highly complex, with delicate notes of red berries, blackberry and redcurrant, as well as more pronounced hints of liquorice, roasted coffee, oak and an almost indescribable floral touch. The firm structure is evident from the outset. However, one soon realises that the tannins are also quite rich, making the wine smooth, full-bodied, juicy and delicious. It already displays a long and pleasant finish. The 2012 vintage can rival the winery’s greatest successes.
