the 2021 Cote Rotie offers tons of cassis, black raspberry, incense, peppery herbs, and violets in a ripe, full-bodied, richly textured style. It shows the warmth of the vintage, but still has a lot of Cote Rotie flavor. However, those wanting the more fragrant and elegant side of Cote Rotie will need to wait another 5-7 years in the cellar, as it currently shows mostly fruit.
Jamet is to Cote-Rotie what Salon is to Champagne; a closely guarded secret held in ridiculously high regard only by true connoisseurs. Brothers Jean-Luc and Jean-Paul tend a total of 7ha of vines spread across 25 lieu-dits in Cote-Rotie, producing ethereal and divinely majestic wine with no regard for vintage. Most of what they make is bottled as a single wine, their Cote-Rotie estate, a philosophy very much in line with Jean-Louis Chave’s legendary Hermitage wines.
