ANEJOS DE ALTURA S.A.The origin of Añejos de Altura SA (formally Licorera Zacapaneca SA), the company which produces Ron Zacapa, dates from 1940 when three independent distillers from the city of Zacapa, Guatemala banded together and formed a company in a response to newly introduced government legislation which allocated the quantity each rum producer could bottle. During the 1950s they invested in new technology and in 1963 absorbed a fourth distiller.

In eastern Guatemala, 229m above sea level, is the city of Zacapa. Founded in 1876 on a busy railroad, the resident population was quickly joined by travelers from all over the world, leaving a legacy that can still be found in local surnames today. In 1976, the city reached its first century of existence. To commemorate this historic event, the company producing Rum Premium in Guatemala decided to create something special. Using the specialized knowledge acquired over many years, a unique drink was born: Ron Zacapa Centenario. It is a specific combination of Guatemala's soil, climate and altitude, together with the Master Blender's control over production and aging, that create what is recognized as the tastiest Rum in the world.
