Maçanita Vinhos is a project of two brothers and two winemakers who seek to explore the Douro terroir. The DOURO is the first demarcated region in the world, created in 1756. However, the terroirs and exposures of the Douro are so many and so different, that it could be called Douros. That's why, between 1935 - 1947, a system of soil classes in the Douro was created, ranging from Letter A to Letter F. The letter A plots are the best plots for the benefited wine, the grapes that ripen best, the closest to Rio, where the concentration and power that brought so much fame to the Douro can be found. This is our Douro Letter A.
