This drink became known as an aperitif before lunch! This carpano is perfect served with an orange peel.
Antonio Beneddetto Carpano invented vermouth in 1786, combining plants and spices with muscatel wine. But in 1870, in one of Carpano's stores in Italy, a stockbroker was discussing the daily rise of 1.5 points (punt and months) in shares, while asking the bartender to serve him his usual Carpano but with half a measure of bitter which he immediately called Carpano Punt e Mes.
