SUNTORY WHISKY HISTORYIn 1923, Shinjiro Torii envisioned a whisky filled with the essence of Japanese nature and hand-crafted by artisans through a patient process of enhancing the work of nature. He dreamt of creating subtle, refined, yet complex whisky that would suit the delicate palate of the Japanese and enhance their dining experience.Though initially inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different from those of Scotland.Torii chose the region of Yamazaki, on the outskirts of Kyoto as the birthplace of Japanese whisky.

Luminous. Delicate. A transparency that unveils complexity. Color: Amber. | Nose: Rose, lychee, hint of rosemary, mature woodiness, sandalwood. | Palate: Honeylike sweetness, candied orange peel, white chocolate. | Finish: Subtle, tender long finish, with hint of Mizunara (Japanese oak).
Tips for enhancing your drinking pleasure
1.Warm a heat-resistant glass by filling it with hot water. 2.Fill the glass one-third to one-quarter with whisky. 3.Add two to three times that amount of hot water. 4.Stir gently with a bar spoon. 5. Enjoy. Hot whisky goes well with many different toppings, including lemon and other citrus fruit. Or why not devise your own? Cinnamon sticks, perhaps, herbs like clove or basil, even jam or dried apples. The water should optimally be at a temperature of 80 °C. Be sure to warm the glass with hot water before pouring in the whisky. This drink can also be enjoyed outdoors in a small Sierra cup: it really warms you up when you're in the mountains or at the riverside.
