The name Barros is now a reference in the history of Port Wine. Founded at the beginning of the century, the company has already gained a reputation undisputed for the quality of Port Wines it markets. It all started in 1913 with the initiative of Manuel de Almeida in creating the company "Almeida em Comandita", mainly dedicated to the Port wine trade and located in Vila Nova de Gaia. The Barros Group was in the hands of the family until June 2006, when it was acquired by GRUPO SOGEVINUS. Porto Barros is now recognized and appreciated all over the world. Much of its success comes from the special categories it produces, the Harvests, fine wines, aged in kites or oak ferries.
