Appealing amber colour. Very rich nose, dense, with notes of English cake and a lot of toasted almond. Delicate and subtle in mouth, engaging, stupendously balanced. Long and soft end.
Served slightly chilled, it will reveal all its fineness and sophistication when accompanied by, for example, with caramel desserts, dried fruits and spices, like caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tatin tart, burnt cream and chesses of minimum intensity. Despite the age, its freshness endures.
This is a wine of exceptional quality and elegance, a Casa Burmester classic that is made from a single harvest - a "Vintage Tawny" - aged in small 550-litre oak barrels in our Vila Nova de Gaia Cellars. It is bottled, at the very least, after seven years and in accordance with demand.
