Batuta 2022 has a deep and intense color, reflecting its concentration and aging potential. On the nose it offers a captivating blend of graphite, blackberries and leather, creating a complex and inviting bouquet. In the mouth it is vibrant and structured, with a pleasant and persistent acidity that adds freshness and balance, highlighting the elegance of the wine. Tannins provide a firm backbone, indicating the wine's youth and promising further development over time. Batuta is very flexible in combination with meat and fish such as monkfish, squid or roasted octopus.
The grapes to produce this wine come from the Carril vineyard, a vineyard that is over 70 years old facing north, and from old vines that are around 100 years old, close to Quinta de Napoles. Batuta results from a delicate vinification, with prolonged macerations, but with little extraction where all the details are carefully considered to obtain a complex, fine and elegant wine. It is full of concentration, typical of old Douro vines, but at the same time fresh and delicate.
