Wide aromatic expression: forest floor, bush, pine needles and discreet fennel notes, later giving way to black fruits (aroma, blueberry), black plum and traces of licorice. In the mouth some chocolate, mushroom/truffle and hint of smoked.
This is the family's first property outside the Douro region. Quinta da Fonte Souto is located in the Portalegre sub-region of Alto Alentejo, in the south of Portugal. Close to the São Mamede mountain range (1,025 metres), the property benefits from the altitude of the area with its cooler microclimate, in sharp contrast to the typically hot and dry conditions of the Alentejo region. Yields are low due to the schist and granite soils, less fertile than those found in the flat and undulating terrain that characterize most of the Alentejo.
