The prestige of wines from the region of Lamego dates back to the 16th century and was definitively honored with the production of sparkling wines Raposeira, a company founded more than 100 years ago.
Studies carried out by their owners in the famous region of Champagne in France, and a series of experiments carried out in Lamecense lands by the same ones allowed to create the personality of some of the most consecrated sparkling Portuguese.
Lamego, land of great parchments and with a captive place in the history of Portugal, was thus the mother-land of this nectar that went to seek the original varieties of champagne its raw material but which was affirmed as a product of a very national character.
Throughout the years, Raposeira has achieved a solid position in the markets thanks to the high quality of sparkling wines produced. This quality earned him the almost permanent leadership of the sector at the national level.
It is with extreme care, high professionalism and a rigorous quality control that the Raposeira selects, transports and vinifies the grapes.
Each stage of production is closely followed by winemakers, whose scientific knowledge consolidates a century of accumulated experience.
The second fermentation is carried out in a bottle according to the traditional champagne method, or classic method. Thus, wine and natural ferments develop a careful evolutionary process in which the conditions of humidity, light and temperature are fundamental.
The operations of "remuage", "degorgement" and licorization, always by the hands of who knows, complete the process of creating these sparkling wines and give it the final touch of distinction.
