Crystal clear straw yellow color. Intense nose, citrus notes, orange peel with some iodine and gunpowder. Fresh, textured attack, unctuousness, concentration in the middle of tasting, good freshness and persistence.

An Atlantic wine from limestone soils that calls for a pairing with seafood products such as scallops, clams, and nuts, which in their preparation include warm flavors, like semi-fatty fish already with some intensity.

The Caracol variety is one of the traditional varieties of the island of Porto Santo. There are several stories and myths about its potential origin, such as that it was a Mr. snail that will have it brought and planted. However, the scientific bibliography seems to relate this variety to the “Cédres” variety of the Canaries (now extinct) and seems to have a very close genetic relationship with the Listrão, which could possibly be its descendant. The little reliable information we have is that it has been in Porto Santo for longer than there is memory. Fazendas da Areia refers to the plots where our best grapes from this harvest come from, with “Fazenda” being the term used locally to designate place, small property, farm. “Sand” the type of soil existing in these farms, limestone sandstones results from the accumulation over millions of years.
