A clean, bright wine with a golden yellow colour, showing all the characteristics of its style. The aroma is complex with notes of citrus fruit, apricot, sultanas and honey, combined with nuances of vanilla and toasted aromas from the ageing in wood. On tasting, the wine fills the palate with a voluminous sweetness, a glyceric unctuousness and a persistent finish. Thanks to its lively acidity and the combination of sweet nectar with a wide range of flavours, it leaves the palate clean and fresh.
Grandjó Late Harvest is made from a careful selection of Semillon grapes affected by the Botrytis Cinerea fungus, a natural phenomenon commonly known as noble rot, which results in the production of sweet, unctuous wines with very fine glyceric notes. The Semillon grape variety has long been present in Portugal and is known by the name Boal. It was recently discovered that Boal and Semillon are the same grape variety, and since then the name Semillon has been recognised as DOC Douro.
