Portuguese winemaker António Maçanita and English consultant and winemaker David Booth met in early 2004. Over the next few months, Antonio was already learning viticulture with David and a great friendship developed. The next step would be to make wine. First wine, first success, with the Alentejo Trophy at the International Wine Challenge, awarded for the second time in 22 years of competition. Fitapreta produces wines that reflect the character of our region, but also what we want it to be. We are so close to deepening our culture and our local castes as we are in changing the world with new challenges, new paths and new blends. Clear straw yellow colour, intense nose with notes of citrus fruit and gunpowder. Full-bodied on the palate, with lovely acidity, the aromas repeat themselves on the aftertaste. Very long finish.

GASTRONOMY

It goes well with more elaborate oven-baked fish, stews, or simpler white meats.

The Morgado de Oliveira was established in 1306 by D. Martim de Oliveira, Archbishop of Braga, from Évora. Here he planted vineyards, built a wine cellar, a wine press, legislated on the protection of Évora's vineyards and wines and built the Paço do Morgado de Oliveira, which is now our home. Morgado de Oliveira's land is blessed with water, and the silver water aqueduct is fed by the property's wells, bought by King João II from Morgado de Oliveira at the end of the 15th century. Vineyards existed here before the Morgado was established in 1306. According to various authors, it is the oldest vineyard area in Évora that we can remember. The two chronicles of King João I testify that there were clashes with the Castilians here and that the soldiers had to hide in the vineyards
