A Douro white with a citrine color that presents enormous complexity and freshness on the nose, with intense but delicate notes of orange blossom and apricot that combine with nuances of chipped stone and dried flowers allowing a beautiful integration of the wood from the aging process. In the mouth it shows excellent structure and texture, revealing the complexity that can be seen on the nose with a good volume of fruity flavors that are complemented by a very fresh and tense profile, with a crisp acidity, giving it a notable tasting length.
Typical dishes such as roasted codfish, salted fish or seafood rice. It also pairs well with cheeses such as Serra or Ilha de São Jorge, Asian dishes such as sweet and sour or spicy pork and, as a vegetarian suggestion, an asparagus risotto.
Carvalhas Branco was born in 2010 through an ambitious approach to small plots of white grapes located in one of the highest points of the Quinta, where the Viosinho and Gouveio grape varieties benefit from a high altitude (400m) and fresh breezes, providing the ideal conditions for the ripening of white grapes. The presence of Viosinho gives the wine its structure and generous character, this being a grape known for its remarkable ability to interact with wood, while Gouveio gives the wine an enormous freshness, minerality, acidity and elegance.
