Maintaining its classic style, Quinta da Bacalhôa 2018 presents aromas of red fruits that are very present, combined with “nuances” of wood and spices. In the mouth, the sensations of red fruits are enhanced and combined with soft but present tannins. It has a fresh finish, somewhat mineral, elegant and very complex.
Quinta da Bacalhôa red goes very well with all dishes with an intense flavor, with some meat fat or spiced sauce. Duck rice, roast kid or "steak au poivre" are good options.
After several centuries of vineyards at Quinta da Bacalhôa – there are records dating back to the 15th century – in 1974 a vineyard was planted with the most famous French red grape varieties in the world, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Thus was born in the 1979 harvest the first Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot in Portugal. Since then, the terroir of Quinta da Bacalhôa has allowed the production of a wine - there are already 44 harvests launched on the market - with an elegant profile and great aging capacity that is a classic among Portuguese wines.
